Description

Qualigrass is formulated to balance pasture mineral status in favour of the dietary needs of cows and helps prevent ill-thrift, scouring and poor reproduction. All these can be symptoms of copper deficiency, which is a constant pressure on NZ dairy cows. Their copper requirement is greatest in late pregnancy when feed intake is about half that of peak lactation. Qualigrass lifts copper, selenium and iodine levels in pasture.

Rich in anionic salts to improve the DCAD ratio of pature it helps cows to mobilise bone calcium and reduce the risk of milk fever. Low levels of magnesium and high levels of potassium are implicated as the main culprits of grass staggers, so Qualigrass programmes raise pasture magnesium levels and reduce the luxury uptake of potassium by grasses.

Winter pasture is typically less palatable and defcient in magnesium, copper, selenium, iodine and other trace elements. Spring pasture is always too high in potassium. Qualigrass turns poor quality pasture into good quality
pasture and avoids the need to make up the defciencies with injections or supplements.

Qualigrass contains 15% nitrogen and boosts grass growth.  In trials the extra grass growth alone paid for
the product.  Qualigrass attacks the two key objectives of animal nutrition:

• Give them enough to eat
• Improve the nutrient quality of their feed

Recommended Uses

Pre calving

10 to 15 litres Qualigrass per hectare sprayed on all the pasture the cows will graze until calving. Extra magnesium and salt can be added if required; your OmniaPrimaxa specialist will advise.

Lactation

5 to 15 litres Qualigrass per hectare. At each application spray the paddocks to be grazed in the next month. Again, extra magnesium and salt may be added as recommended by your Primaxa Specialist.

Qualigrass has a strong residual effect. The second application has much more impact on pasture nutrient levels so lower application rates may be used.
